Occupational therapists address areas of upper extremity positioning and splinting, seating and positioning needs,
fine motor, visual motor, and visual perception development, sensory motor, pre-vocational and vocational, coordination skills,
community access, and activities of daily living(ADL's) -- all important components of our everyday activities at home and in school. The OT department also works to improve a student's thinking skills by emphasizing compensatory strategies needed for successful functioning within the educational setting and community. Services include integrated occupational therapy within the classroom, consultation and carry-over activities, and individual treatment sessions. The occupational therapy staff also communicates with other therapists and medical staff, school staff, and families to provide the best program to serve the student's needs. |
